Ozzy Osbourne has successfully completed an operation to remove and realign pins in his back and neck.
Ozzy’s wife and manager, Sharon Osbourne, initially broke the news last week on an episode of The Talk UK. “He has a very major operation on Monday. I have to be there and it’s really going to determine the rest of his life,” said Sharon. “My son is also going to have a daughter in about three weeks, and also it’s our 40th wedding anniversary and July 1.”
In a new update posted to Sharon Osbourne‘s official Twitter, Ozzy is now out of surgery and is in the recovery process. “Our family would like to express much gratitude for the overwhelming amount of love and support leading up to Ozzy’s surgery!” said Sharon in a statement. “Ozzy is doing well and on the road to recovery! Your love means the world to him.”
Just recently, someone within the Osbourne camp told Page Six that there will be a “lengthy amount of convalescence” after the procedure, and Ozzy will will need a nurse at home to assist in his recovery.
The source added: “Ozzy is 73 and any kind of surgery when you get older is difficult. This is quite major. He’s having the pins in his neck and back realigned from when he had a fall back in 2019.
“He’s been in a lot of pain.”
Speaking with Classic Rock in an interview last month, Ozzy revealed that he’s still suffering from injuries sustained from a quad bike accident he had back in in 2003. “I’m just waiting on some more surgery on my neck,” he said. “I can’t walk properly these days. I have physical therapy every morning. I am somewhat better, but nowhere near as much as I want to be to go back on the road.”
