A new photo of Alex Van Halen has appeared online
The recent pic of VAN HALEN drummer Alex Van Halen has shown up online thanks to ex-A PERFECT CIRCLE and current DEVO drummer Josh Freese.
On Wednesday (August 17), Freese, known for his work with A PERFECT CIRCLE, GUNS N’ ROSES, NINE INCH NAILS and many more, posted a pic to his official Instagram of him with Alex Van Halen, with the included caption: “Epic Epic Epic! Just ran into Alex Van Halen (my first drum hero) at LAX and talked for 30 mins. Haven’t seen him in years. It was so great to reconnect. Crazy, I was with @wolfvanhalen yesterday and was asking him how his uncle’s been doing. Bizarre! Not pictured is @markguiliana who I ran into 5 mins later. Drummer craziness at LAX this afternoon. #alexvanhalen #markguiliana #drummers #vanhalen”.
Last year, ex-VAN HALEN singer Sammy Hagar revealed that he had tried to reach out to Alex after his brother, VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen, passed away after his battle with throat cancer.
“Alex just seems to he just doesn’t want to communicate with anybody,” Sammy told Ultimate Classic Rock. “You know, Mike [Anthony, former VAN HALEN bassist] has reached out, and I reached out many times. I don’t know. I’m sure he’s still in pain from the whole thing, but I’m not dogging him. I’m just saying he just really doesn’t want to be friends or doesn’t want to communicate. I don’t know why, but we’ve still got the rest of our lives to work this out.”
Alex, who turned 68 in May of 2021, marked the occasion by sharing the following statement to his social media: “First birthday without you, Ed. The view from my drum set will never be the same. VH forever!”
