MEGADETH and LAMB OF GOD‘s ‘The Metal Tour Of The Year‘ descended upon Montreal, Quebec, Canada last night (May 17) along with fellow metallers TRIVIUM and IN FLAMES. You can check out videos and photos of the event below.
Montreal, Canada has always been a city well known for it’s adoration of heavy music with droves of rabid metalheads descending upon Place Bell Arena in Laval, Quebec last night.
Swedish metal group IN FLAMES kicked off the evening’s sweat-filled festivities with the track ‘Cloud Connected’ and proceeded to deliver a solid performance of such notable tracks as ‘Everything’s Gone‘, ‘Where The Dead Ships Dwell‘ and ‘Take This Life.’
Soon after, Florida metallers TRIVIUM attacked the capacity audience with a sheer audio bludgeoning of notable songs like the new cut ‘In The Court OF The Dragon‘, ‘Beyond Oblivion‘, ‘Strife‘ and the classic ‘Pull Harder On The Strings Of Your Martyr‘ featuring guitarist Corey Beaulieu on lead vocals.
Virginia groove metal machine LAMB OF GOD pounded the audience with severity with such bangers as ‘Walk With Me In Hell‘, ‘Laid To Rest‘, ‘Momento Mori‘ (opener) and ‘Redneck‘. Former MACHINE HEAD and current VIO-LENCE guitarist Phil Demmel filled in for Willie Adler and will continue to do so on the Canadian portion of “The Metal Tour Of The Year“.
Although LAMB OF GOD have yet to officially commented on Adler’s absence from the shows, VIO-LENCE singer Sean Killian revealed in a recent interview that Willie is “not down with doing the vaxx,”, referring to the COVID-19 vaccine, and is being replaced by Demmel for all shows in those countries that still require proof of vaccination from U.S. travelers.
Last month, Demmel also filled in for LAMB OF GOD‘s John Campbell when the bassist had to miss a couple of shows on “The Metal Tour Of The Year” in order to “take care a family matter back home.”
And finally MEGADETH wrecked beautiful havok upon the audience with such revered classics as ‘Sweating Bullets‘, ‘Hangar 18‘ (opener), ‘Symphony Of Destruction‘, ‘Angry Again‘ and ‘Holy Wars‘.
MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine never misses a step when it comes to the live delivery of his iconic thrash metal band in a live performance setting. And the fans on hand ate it up after being starved of live, heavy music for what seems like an eternity thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, all four bands delivered just as if they had never stopped, sounding solid, tight and of course, loud as hell in an all encompassing return to live metal.
