knotfest los angeles 2021, KNOTFEST: SLIPKNOT Debut “The Chapeltown Rag” Live And Drummer JAY WEINBERG Unveils New Mask

SLIPKNOT performed their new single, “The Chapeltown Rag”, live for the first time on Friday night (November 5) at Knotfest Los Angeles. You can watch the streamed footage below.

Knotfest was livestreamed as it happened, letting fans from all over globe watch the event as it unfolded.

The studio version of “The Chapeltown Rag” dropped on Friday morning, and was produced by Joe Baressi, known for his work with AVENGED SEVENFOLD, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE and CHEVELLE.

SLIPKNOT vocalist Corey Taylor described the song to Knotfest.com as “a punisher,” saying it documents what happens when the distortions of mass media circulate within the echo chambers of social media.

“It’s classic SLIPKNOT,” Corey said. “And it’s frenetic. But lyrically, it’s coming from a point of talking about the various manipulations that can happen when social media meets media itself. And the different ways that these manipulations can try to pull us in different directions, in the fact that we’re all becoming addicts to it, which is very, very dangerous.”

M. Shawn Crahan, better known as Clown from SLIPKNOT, added: “‘The Chapeltown Rag’ facilitates a sort of mindset that you’re going to like: it’s along the barnburner side of things.”

“The Chapeltown Rag” is inspired by a Netflix documentary Corey Taylor watched about the serial killer known as “The Yorkshire Ripper”, who murdered numerous women in the West Yorkshire, United Kingdom suburb of Chapeltown in the late 1970s

Also at the event, SLIPKNOT drummer Jay Weinberg unveiled his new mask during the band’s performance on Friday night, making him the second member of the group to debut a new mask during the band’s fall 2021 tour. SLIPKNOT vocalist Corey Taylor revealed his new mask during the band’s performance at the Rocklahoma festival in Pryor, Oklahoma back in September.
