On Tuesday (June 22), METALLICA announced the “Black” Album reissue that will also feature a covers album featuring various artists playing versions of the band’s songs featured on the iconic record.
Titled the ‘Metallica Blacklist’, the tribute set features an all-star lineup of bands and artists paying tribute to METALLICA including a version of “Nothing Else Matters” by MILEY CYRUS with contributions from Elton John, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith, Ozzy Osbourne producer Watt (Andrew Watt), cellist Yo-Yo Ma and METALLICA’s own Robert Trujillo.
METALLICA tweeted on Tuesday: “Check out your first sneak peek of the #MetallicaBlacklist with a star-studded rendition of ‘Nothing Else Matters’ by @MileyCyrus featuring @thisiswatt, @eltonofficial, @YoYo_Ma, @RobertTrujillo, and @RHCPchad”.
Blacklist, along with a remastered version of the original The Black Album will both be released Sept. 10 via METALLICA’s Blackened Recordings. The covers album boasts new renditions from a total of 53 artists. See the full list here.
