GREEN DAY has embarked on their next exciting journey, introducing a fresh single and a spine-tingling accompanying video while also revealing details about their forthcoming studio album
Dubbed “The American Dream Is Killing Me,” GREEN DAY‘s infectious new track made its debut at the recent When We Were Young festival. The song is accompanied by a chilling black-and-white video, in which the pop punk legends are transformed into zombies, performing while undead hordes wreak havoc around them. Just in time for Halloween, the atmosphere is set!
“The American Dream Is Killing Me” marks the first official release from the band’s fourteenth studio album, titled “Saviors.” The album cover features an evocative photo captured during a 1978 riot in Belfast amidst The Troubles. Set to be unleashed on January 19 via Reprise, this new LP promises to be a significant addition to GREEN DAY‘s discography.
“Saviors is an invitation into Green Day’s brain, their collective spirit as a band, and an understanding of friendship, culture and legacy of the last 30 plus years,” say the band in a statement. “It’s raw and emotional. Funny and disturbing. It’s a laugh at the pain, weep in the happiness kind of record. Honesty and vulnerability. What is Saviors about, you ask? Power pop, punk, rock, indie triumph. disease, war, inequality, influencers, yoga retreats, alt right, dating apps, masks, MENTAL HEALTH, climate change, oligarchs, social media division, free weed, fentanyl, fragility,,.. What would Andy Warhol do? What would John Waters do? What would Quentin Tarantino do? What would GREEN DAY do?”

Notably, their most recent album, “Father Of All Motherfuckers,” which was released in 2020, received mixed reviews. While the album’s songs garnered praise, some critique was directed at its surprisingly short runtime of just twenty-six minutes, making it the band’s shortest full-length record to date.
