The latest edition of THE LOADED RADIO PODCAST is a special one as we sit down with DREAM THEATER singer James Labrie.
In the discussion, James discusses his new solo album, “Beautiful Shade Of Grey“, which arrives on May 20 via Inside Out Music.
James Labrie‘s fourth solo effort sees him collaborating with guitarist/bassist/composer Paul Logue (EDEN’s CURSE) as well as his son, Chance Labrie on drums, guitarist Marco Sfogli and keyboardist Christian “Chrism” Pulkkinen in a sonically stunning journey of beauty, loss and the human condition.
A press release reads: ‘Going beyond the thematic and personal elements, for James, ‘Beautiful Shade of Grey’ presented an opportunity to capture the love and enthusiasm he feels for great songwriting through a vehicle that wasn’t tied to the same rules and architypes of his other projects. Reflecting on artists that he’s been drawn to over the years, ranging from JOURNEY, FOREIGNER and GINO VANELLI to CHEVELLE, BIG WRECK and PRINCE, the common thread that’s kept him coming back to them was their eclectic, unpredictable output.’
“All these artists had versality, and I think it’s primarily because of this that they maintained my attention. They always, I believe, pushed themselves to ask, ‘what else can I do?’” says Labrie.
James as well discusses DREAM THEATER‘s recent GRAMMY win for the song ‘The Alien” off the band’s latest album ‘A View From The Top Of The World‘, expanding his creative wings and his current relationship with former DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy.
