will original sepultura reunite, Ex-SEPULTURA Drummer IGOR CAVALERA Says ‘It Would Be Amazing’ If The Group’s Classic Lineup Reunited

Former SEPULTURA drummer Igor Cavalera says that “it would be amazing” if the group’s classic lineup reunited, yet still insists that he and his brother Max playing together marks the “real reunion” of the legendary band.

The original lineup of SEPULTURA fractured back in 1996 when frontman Max Cavalera walked away from the band after the remaining group members denied working with Max’s wife Gloria as their manager. Igor remained behind the drum kit for another ten years before finally walking away from SEPULTURA himself.

Igor recently discussed the possibility of a classic SEPULTURA lineup reunion in a new talk with the “Mike Nelson Show“. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I have to be honest with you, man. The reunion, in my opinion, it’s me and my brother — that’s the person that I wanna be united with. So, for me, if the other stuff, it doesn’t happen, I can’t really be too bummed about it. Of course, it would be amazing, but the real reunion for me is just me and my brother being together. That’s what makes me happy.”

SEPULTURA has remained successful throughout the world amidst a four-decade career, yet it’s really the Max Cavalera albums, like “Roots“, “Arise” and “Chaos A.D.“, that remain SEPULTURA‘s most commercially successful and recognized by fans.

Igor and Max Cavalera have embraced their past with SEPULTURA, spending a great deal of time over the last six years celebrating the 20th anniversary of the band’s “Roots” and 30th anniversary of “Beneath The Remains” and “Arise” albums during live performnces.

SEPULTURA‘s current lineup consists of singer Derrick Green, guitarist Andreas Kisser, bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. and drummer Eloy Casagrande. The group released its latest studio album, “Quadra“, in February 2020 via Nuclear Blast Records.
