DETHKLOK have announced two shows for this summer and fall taking place at the Blue Ridge Rock Festival in Alton, Virginia in September and at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento, California in October

The stars of the Adult Swim series “Metalocalypse” haven’t been on an actual “tour” in 11 years, and have only performed a handful of shows since 2012. It seems, at least for the time being, that road trips would have to be in order to catch the animated band in any live performance capacity.

DETHKLOK‘s touring lineup consists of mainman Brendon Small (guitar, vocals), Gene Hoglan (DEATH, TESTAMENT) on drums, Nili Brosh on second guitar and Pete Griffin on bass.

Back in August of 2022, Small revealed that he was busy writing the final Metalocalypse film, which hints toward the fact that the animated metal band are quite possibly laying down some new material.

Small had revealed that the new project would answer all the questions left unanswered from the 2013 movie “The Doomstar Requiem“.

“I can tell you… what has already been released, which is that we are making a feature Metalocalypse movie, and that’s what we’re in production on right now. So we’re right in the middle of making the movie, so all the questions that were still lingering after The Doomstar Requiem — a one-hour long rock opera special — are being answered… I don’t wanna say too much about it, but it’s a very big project. We’re all excited to be knee deep in it right now.”

When asked about a release date, Small replied that it would be an Adult Swim decision. “I just know that I’ve still got work to do,” he added.

A 2021 synopsis from Adult Swim reads: “The power-hungry TRIBUNAL unveils their secret and deadly ‘Falconback Project‘ as the world grows in embattled chaos and the menacing Doomstar breaches the Earth’s atmosphere while the mysterious and twisted dissent of a band member threatens the future of Dethklok. Picking up directly after the heroic rescue of Toki Wartooth: Can Dethklok choose between their egos and the greater good of the world to embark on a gauntlet of dangers that will try their very souls and finally write the song that will be their salvation?”

In related news, it looks like Brendon Small, Gene Hoglan, and non-touring bassist Bryan Beller have all been in the studio together as of late, working on potential new DETHKLOK material. This information came as the result of a pic of the three posted to Hoglan’s social media back in December of 2022.

DETHKLOK‘s latest album, “Metalocalypse: Dethklok Dethalbum III“, was released in October 2012 via Williams Street Records.

Dethalbum III” was once again co-produced by Small and Ulrich Wild (“Dethalbum” and “Dethalbum II“).
