DEFTONES frontman Chino Moreno confirms the band are currently working on new music

Speaking with Noise11.com while promoting the new ††† (CROSSES) EP “PERMANENT.RADIANT”, Chino was asked for an update on DEFTONES’ upcoming plans. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “We’re just chipping away on some new music — those [other] guys are, at least, at the moment. We have some sporadic shows over the next couple of years, or a year or so, whatever. But for the most part, yeah, we’re just kind of winding down and taking some time off, for the most part.”

Earlier this year it was announced that DEFTONES had brought in new touring bass player Fred Sablan following the band’s split with Sergio Vega. Sablan is best known as the former bassist for MARILYN MANSON. He has also played with CHELSEA WOLFE and PETER HOOK AND THE LIGHT, and is also a member of the punk-rock supergroup HEAVENS BLADE which also features YOUTH CODE vocalist Sara Taylor, ROB ZOMBIE bassist Piggy D. (on guitar) and SUICIDE SILENCE drummer Alex Lopez.

The band were also joined by second guitarist Lance Jackman, known for his work in the bands EIGHTFOURSEVEN, HORSENECK and WILL HAVEN.
