AVENGED SEVENFOLD frontman M Shadows says that Zakk Wylde would be the “perfect fit” to play guitar on the upcoming PANTERA reunion tour.

As reported yesterday evening (July 13), surviving PANTERA members Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown are said to have signed with Artist Group International for a tour under the PANTERA to take place in 2023.

The actual replacements for late guitarist ‘Dimebag’ Darrell Abbott and his brother, drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott, who died in 2018, have yet to be officially confirmed, however Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde and ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante are rumored to be stepping into those roles.

When asked on Twitter about rumors that Zakk would stand in for Dimebag, M. Shadows responded: “I hope so… perfect fit and a friend for Dime. What a great tribute.”

The announcement of the PANTERA “reunion” seems to have split fans, with many saying a tour under the PANTERA name without the Abbott brothers isn’t right.

“There is no Pantera without Dime and Vinnie, pack it up already,” said one Twitter user.  “Without Dimebag and Vinnie, what’s the fucking point?” asked another.

Tour dates for the reunion trek have yet to be announced.
